Smart Phone Adaptive Otoscope

Smart Phone Adaptive Otoscope

This is a prototype of an adaptable smartphone otoscope. Using a smartphone, rubber band, and camera app at 3.0 zoom (or magnifier app at 3.0 zoom), this 3D printed piece can transform into a functioning otoscope. I'm currently developing a more secure way to attach the device to the phone without relying on a rubber band, as well as creating customizable OpenSCAD code for any cell phone model. An otoscope is a medical tool used by healthcare professionals to examine the ear canal or eardrum. It's essential to note that this device is not a regulated medical tool and only registered medical professionals can make an accurate diagnosis. My objective was to design a functional 3D printed device as an Open Source Appropriate Technology (OSAT). OSAT refers to technologies designed like free and open-source software, with special consideration for the environmental, social, cultural, political, and economic aspects of the community it's intended for.
