Smart 451 Kick-Panel Retainer Clip

The kick panel clips are...heh...fragile on a Smart 451 at least. They snap on the rail fingers easily. And while you can get parts for these online, like the Plastic Retention Nut I made (Also included in my designs on here) it's not like you've got 2-4 weeks to wait for the silly thing from in off of eBay, Daimler's parts supply houses, etc. to lay hands on this. You needed it NOW not later. This comprises a simple fix that lets you print one or more of these quickly (Four prints in about an hour on the Ender 3 v2 I have...) and get the silly kick panel up on the same day or similar of the day you pulled the panel and broke the things. They are simple...fairly durable compared to the Stock ones... Just slide them in on the clip grooves on the kick panel, Bottom side (You want to orient the print with the fingers pointed UP) facing towards you and install like normal. The fingers are just enough to get the pegs/screws (they're really self-tapping screws as studs...) to grip the clip and hold it with a similar retention force to the Stock ones. Don't force them on or off (Use the same level of good judgement as you'd use with the Stock clips and they'll well outlast the others.) and follow that bit of advice (Fingers face OUTWARD from the Tridion Capsule.) Print Settings Printer Brand: Creality Printer: Ender 3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 100 Filament: Inland PETG, ABS or ASA Black Notes: You want something that can tolerate sheltered outdoors conditions. This means you want ABS or ASA, with PETG in a pinch. PETG will print the top half of the slide rail guides smooth and clean as a bridging situation. ABS and ASA will have some drooping stringers but these don't get in the way, can be left alone and just USE the thing. You don't need/want supports- they will cause you misery in the case of trying. How I Designed This =================== Simple, straightforwardmisuse of a snap generator out of Tinkercad at the measured sizing for the post, minus 0.2 mm so it can grip the sides of the fingers right. This was then dropped in against a rail created out of the gap size measured from the retention slots on the kick-panel plus a couple of MM overhang out past the rail at the thickness of the retention plate between the top and bottom. Result is a usable retention for a car body part. Once you own you need to only approximate the part effectively and efficiently, you arrive at being able to make quite a few modern marvels to fix your car without the help of the manufacturer.
