SMARS modular robot

The SMARS acronym stands for Screwless/Screwed Modular Assemblable Robotic System. This is a straightforward robot designed specifically for educational purposes. The main characteristics of the SMARS are its reduced number of components, the ability to assemble it without using screws or soldering any parts together, and it doesn't require glue or similar materials. It's also quite inexpensive to build. Another key feature of the SMARS is its modular design. You can easily attach different sensors and tools and create your own unique parts. In the future, I plan on adding new modules or DLCs to improve the model, but it would be great if you could share your own mods as well. To assemble the basic model (using the "chassis-SL.stl" file), you'll only need a few extra components: - Two mini 150RPM motors (available at https://goo.gl/UtN7nv) - One 9[V] battery (you can find this in a local store) - One 9[V] battery connector (available at https://goo.gl/x6bEkK or https://goo.gl/V7ZU7K) - One Arduino UNO or 2009 (available at https://goo.gl/UGwHuS or https://goo.gl/wSMmVM) - One Adafruit Motor Shield V1 or V2 (available at https://goo.gl/Y53e3C) or an L298P motor shield (available at https://goo.gl/PRmsa6) For the screwed version ("chassis-S.stl"), you'll only need two 25mm M4 screws and two self-locking nuts. TIPS: - The joints of the tracks are simply pieces of 1.75mm filament cut to the right length. - To assemble the screwless version, you'll need a multi-slip-joint gripping plier to insert the "slave wheels." - One of my next DLCs will be the Quadpod mod. If you're interested in moving from tracks to legs, use the screwed version ("chassis-S.stl"). The screwed version is not compatible with "chassis-SL." These models also fit: - Three AAA batteries (check my profile for the DLC) - One PS3 controller 1800mAh 3.7V Li-Ion Battery (be careful and only use it if you know what you're doing!) available at https://goo.gl/AR6pjf Video: https://youtu.be/JCqkuDWNzIg This lesson plan was a submission in the Create to Educate lesson plan contest sponsored by Ultimaker.
