SMARS LC (SMARS Lowest Cost).\r\n\r\nThe primary objective of the SMARS LC series of components is to significantly reduce the cost of SMARS bots for group efforts where classroom budgets are a major concern, especially when building numerous robots simultaneously.\r\n\r\nOne key problem that the SMARS LC series solves is the tendency of 3D printed stepper-mount screws to come loose on the SMARS - 28BYJ-48 (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2778904).\r\n\r\nFor optimal results, print at either 0% or 5% infill and gently bend these parts into place between the stepper motors' holes from the inside, as depicted in the photos.\r\n\r\nIt is highly recommended to install them while still warm or later on a heated bed for better adhesion.\r\n\r\nIf they do snap, attempt to insert them initially when the 3D printed piece is still slightly warm, or rewarm the part on a heated print bed first.\r\n\r\nAlternatively, you can modify the attached Openscad source file as needed and straighten out the design so it securely holds the stepper motors in place.\r\n\r\nTo assemble this component for a SMARS - 28BYJ-48, only two pins are required, as one pin fills both mount holes.\r\n\r\nThe SMARS project was initiated by Tristomietitoredeituit on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/tristomietitoredeituito/about).\r\n\r\nNote that this part is referred to as a "Samson" pin because it pushes against two sides simultaneously.
