Smaller front stops for laptop cooler/stand/fans
thingiverse
I picked up a stand with built-in fans to cool the bottom of my laptop and was shocked to discover this affordable ($11) yet surprisingly well-designed model from China featured gigantic end stops that prevented laptops from sliding forward. So substantial that they protrude significantly above the laptop, making it perilously easy to injure oneself. As if struggling with my MacBook Pro wasn't stressful enough, these obtrusive end stops felt like a twisted twist of fate, putting me in harm's way one more time. In response, I downloaded and printed custom smaller feet that deliberately didn't exceed the height of my laptop. These customized supports are ample enough to probably accommodate any reasonably modern laptop with ease. The model number of the stand is YL339A I have attached a picture of the stand itself, as well as one showing the standard stop on the right alongside this sleek alternative on the left (painted white). A small layer of foam was applied to the part that contacts the actual laptop surface. Due to my hectic schedule, I decided to print using 0.4mm layers, resulting in two shells made from PLA plastic, each taking around ten minutes to complete. Feel free to try printing one for yourself or let me know if you find it useful.
