SMALLER Claw/Ball Topper ($7 Cane/Walking Hiking Sticks)
thingiverse
This is a smaller version of the original one I created at: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3865664 If you plan to display only, consider the larger ball/claw topper. However, if you intend to use it as a cane, a smaller size will be more suitable unless you have extremely large hands like me. To make a taller stick or staff, grab my 1" cane coupler from here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3810485 You can also check out my 1" wall mount clips for displaying your canes/sticks at: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3845550 A solid oak cane/walking stick can be made for around $7. In addition to the printed topper of your choice, you'll need a 1” oak dowel, which costs about $6 at Home Depot, and a 1” rubber leg tip, about $4 for 4 of them. The links below are just references so you know what to buy: 1” Oak Dowel: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Builder-s-Choice-1-in-x-36-in-Oak-Round-Dowel-HDDO136/206184686 1” Leg Tip: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QD30TE The topper .stl file is designed for a 1” dowel when printed at 100%. If you want to use it on a different size stick, simply adjust accordingly. I print at 20% infill and then paint and coat with a 2-part epoxy resin to add the deep gloss and strength. You can find this resin at: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BM9LHRB Just print the topper, glue it to the finished dowel (sand and clear coat) using your preferred adhesive (I use some of the 2-part resin I have mixed up for the final topper coat). You'll end up with an awesome walking stick – or a great addition to your collection if you're into collecting like me.
