EDITED NOTE (Oct.11, 2019): Two additional files with a "V1a" suffix have been added. The thickness of the bottom of the box has been reduced by 1mm, and all lid insets have been lowered by 1mm to minimize print time and filament usage while maintaining structural integrity. I designed this small storage box for holding tiny items like screws, nuts, washers, and other small parts. I opted against purchasing cheap plastic containers because I wanted the flexibility to create custom-sized boxes in any color I desired, as well as the ability to make multiple sizes to fit my specific needs. This storage box provides a secure environment where items won't shift from one bin to another when carrying it, even upside down. The latches are also securely fastened and resistant to popping off easily. To create the back hinge, a 2mm X 150mm stainless steel rod was used, sourced from Amazon. Two 40mm lengths were cut from this rod using a Dremel cutting wheel for the front latch hinges. The holes in the rods are closed on one end and secured with an M3x5mm screw on the other end once the rods are inserted. The box dimensions are 181.5mm (7 1/8") long, 146.1mm (5 3/4") wide, and 27mm (1 1/16") deep. The majority of the bins measure approximately 32-35mm square, while those near the hinge are roughly 50mm by 45mm, 40mm by 30mm, and 35mm by 30mm. If this design proves useful to others, that's a bonus. I printed this box using eSUN PLA+ at a .2 layer height, requiring only supports on the latch area. The nozzle size was .4, line width was .45, and wall widths were either 1.8mm or 2.7mm. Note: I set my "Bottom Solid Layers" to 999 in Simplify3D to prevent any infill from being generated. The design was created using Fusion 360, with an accompanying .f3d file available for download.
