Small Stacking Shelves
thingiverse
Small stacking shelves are perfect for storing small plastic parts boxes you can find by selecting passives shipped in from an online retailer. The base shelf forms the bottom of the stack. Each shelf provides 42mm of clearance above the one below it. Designed to be strong and lightweight, each shelf uses about 100g. The first version weighed 125g, but when printed with PLA+, I could stand on it. So, I simplified the design to make it a little lighter. It's still overkill. Load from the top shelf is distributed directly into the column support below, allowing many shelves to be stacked without sacrificing much strength. However, I haven't printed enough of them to test an upper limit yet. The base is essential for the strength of the stack, otherwise the failure mode would be the legs splaying out and the deck suffering stress fractures. Since the intended loads are light, omitting the base, removing the centering pins, and adding rubber stick-on feet should prevent lateral motion of the legs if loads are only a few pounds.
