This innovative four-piece mold crafts a concrete "Reef Block" that draws inspiration from the renowned "Reef Ball." Designers sought to revive vital oyster habitats, culminating in the development of this very mold used in the Billion Oyster Pavilion on Governor's Island during summer 2015. After its seasonal closure, the pavilion will be disassembled, leaving behind the molded blocks infused with new oysters for transplant into New York Harbor, facilitating habitat renewal.
