Small Pulley - No Bearings Needed
cults3d
I made several changes to the original design of the parts, making them much better in my opinion. I plan on utilizing the three pulleys that I just printed out tomorrow during our job, as we will be pulling a lengthy section of fiber with only a few people available. These pulleys are ideal for replacing some bodies due to the low risk of cutting into the outer jacket, and the plastic used will make them much easier to work with. I utilized the Acetone bath technique for finishing these pulleys, which proved to be very effective in sealing the outer shell. The combination of acetone and ABS solution really helped to seal any imperfections, leaving the pulleys looking great. I am hopeful that they will resist cracking at the seams now. For more information on the changes made, please refer to the change log below. Change Log: - I increased the diameter of the hole in both the roller and frame, minimizing post-processing requirements. - I added a single roller to the design. - I removed the decorative loop from the top of the frame. - I decreased the diameter and altered the shape of the end cap post to reduce overall post-processing needs. The end cap may require a small amount of glue to stay secure now. - I changed the shape of the end cap receiver in the rod to reflect changes made to the end cap post. I designed this simply as a fun project, but it might be useful for printing another and using them to hang my spools. Currently, this thing does not fit together without some modifications, which was frustrating at first. I had to ream out all of the holes with an exact-o knife and ended up gluing on the end cap of the rod. Although I'm still new to 3D printing, I can see that this design doesn't complement the material very well. Still, it's fun to play around with, so let me know how you plan on using it.
