The amazing thing about 3D printing technology is that it lets you create exact replicas of rare, unusual, and educational items that you might never get to see otherwise. Just take a look at this one! This is a Paleo-Indian to early Archaic projectile point lithic done in the Dalton tradition, created around 8500–7900 BC (10,500BP to 9,900BP) throughout most of Southeast North America. These points are finely crafted with pressure flaking, and heavy resharpening suggests they were often used as knife blades. This particular point is attributed to the ancestral proto-Indians of the Choctaw tribe, excavated near the Tennessee River in Western Tennessee. The item is now being curated by the Department of Anthropology at Indiana University South Bend. It was scanned with a NextEngine scanner.
