I combined a couple of items I found here to create an easier way to drain a small pond or fish tank using a standard hose that can be submerged to siphon the pond or tank without getting blocked. This also works with an in-line pump to keep larger particles and fish from being sucked out. Simply push fits with added O-rings onto existing Hozelock or Gardena systems.
