Small Name Tag/Keychain For Paper Insert

<p>I designed this because I wanted to put a small name tag on my sports bag. I also wanted it to be in separate pieces so I could print it with different colors. This name tag has a 0.3mm indentation on the bottom to hold a piece of paper/card (42*21mm), and the top piece is ever so slightly smaller than that to make sure the paper doesn't fall out from the front. You can adjust the depth of the indentation (as well as other dimensions) with the f3d file.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Parts to print:</strong></p><ul><li>nametag_top x1</li><li>nametag_bottom x1 (I print with supports and have not tested without them)</li><li>nametag_shortPin OR nametag_longPin x4</li></ul><p>*All of these parts have been test-printed with PLA (Polymaker Polylite PLA) and with a 0.4mm nozzle. Due to the small size of the pins, I would not recommend printing this with a 0.6mm nozzle.<br>*I suspect that PETG might be better for the pins because it allows flexibility, but I didn't really design this with being able to replace the paper often in mind, so it didn't really matter to me.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Assembly tips:</strong></p><p>It's easier to push all four pins into the slots of the top (as seen in the photo), then pushing it into the bottom piece. Tweezers/pliers are pretty helpful for pushing them into place as well.<br>I would recommend taping the piece of paper/putting a thin sheet of plastic over it.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Should I print the long or short pin?</strong></p><p>The two pins differ by 0.5mm. The original design (i.e. the tag that I am actively using) uses the shorter pin and is pretty tight. It does not hold the bottom properly if the flat part does not sit flush with the top of the tag. It is also much harder to remove in case you would like to switch it out.<br>The longer pin, on the other hand, allows more room between the two pieces of the name tag. This allows you to slide the piece of paper/card out of the case if you widen the gap. The pin also sticks out a bit from the bottom of the tag, so it's easier to remove the pins if you wanted to. The longer pin is mainly created in case the pin could not sit flush with the top of the tag.</p><p>I would recommend using the shorter pin because it's more secure, at least for me. However, if you are worried about tolerances, you could try the longer pin. If you want to put a thicker piece of paper in the tag without having to adjust the model, you could also try the longer pin. It doesn't take too much plastic to print these, so you could always try it out and adjust accordingly. I put an extra 0.1mm of space on each side of the pin hole and it works perfectly for me.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>I would love to hear feedback! Please let me know in the comments!</strong></p>
