⚠ DISCLAIMER ⚠Let me begin by saying that you need to be extremely careful when installing and using this junction box. It is made from material not deemed electrically safe, and you are working with high voltage that could be lethal. Turn off all power to any wiring that will be manipulated during installation!!! The box may not be compliant with your local regulations.IntroductionThat said, I am replacing under-cabinet fluorescent lights in my kitchen with LED lighting. The fluorescent lights are connected directly to mains power using 14/2 Romex. The fluorescent light units include perfectly good NEMA 5-15R snap in receptacles similar to this as well as on/off rocker switches similar to this. This junction box employs the salvaged receptacle and switch to provide a means of powering the 5V adapter needed for the LED lighting.PrintingI use PETG filament due to its combination of relative flame and heat resistance and its electrical insulation properties. I note that PETG formulations may vary and therefore so may these electrical and combustibility characteristics. I am not aware of regulatory approval for use of the filament for this purpose, so beware.I printed using 0.2mm layers and automatic painting on the junction boxes.InstallationInstall using the appropriate box design (receptacle left, receptacle right, receptacle top) feeding the Romex into the box and screwing it under the cabinet so that the Romex is seated and secure in the wire clamp. MiscellaneousAs an aside, I am using WLED for my lighting. I highly recommend it.
