Small Funnel (65mm)
thingiverse
This is a straightforward small funnel. The 3D model is a solid, unbroken shape. To make the funnel, you need to set your slicer settings to zero top and bottom layers. The sidewall thickness depends on your nozzle size and the number of perimeter walls you choose. I recommend about a 1.2mm wall thickness for strength and some flexibility. I printed with a 1.0mm nozzle that expands to 1.2mm. Always add 20% to your nozzle size to get the perimeter wall thickness when using Simplify3D in "Auto" mode. This way, you can print it with only one perimeter wall and use "Spiral Vase Mode" to avoid any retraction marks. I kept the layer height low at 0.2mm even though I was using a fairly large nozzle. A thin layer height gives better layer adhesion for durability and reduces layer line ridges. The smaller the steps, the fewer particles will stick to the funnel. You want it as smooth as possible. To further help with this, you might want to print a little hotter than usual but slow down the print, especially near the top. Set a minimum layer time of 7-10 seconds, depending on how good your print fans are. I used PETG instead of PLA for some flexibility and strength. Print PETG between 235-245C. It is also more viscous, so you'll likely need to slow your print speed down by about 25%, unless you're using a direct drive BondTech extruder.
