<p>There are a lot of dual extruder calibration chips out there, but this one is mine. I was getting a little frustrated with HedonismBot's calibration procedure which takes a really long time (heat the bed and extruders, print some lines that are difficult to interpret and pull off the bed easily) to perform and repeat.</p> <p>I wanted something that would print very quickly and still give me the information I needed. One of these chips prints in about 3-4 minutes and gives you pretty much all the XY offset calibration data you need to quickly and accurately calibrate the XY offsets on your printer.</p> <p>I have a few ideas to make the chip more meaningful:</p> <ul> <li>Add an indicator to show the XY orientation of the chip once it's been removed from the printer (right now I just use a Sharpie on the back)</li> <li>Add indicators to show what direction to adjust the printer settings, once you've examined the chip<br/> Note: If you look carefully at the calibration chips, left (the first one) to the right (last one I printed before final adjustments) you can see a gap around the squares. This is not a calibration problem - it is due to the nozzle size and not really a problem at all. Since the chip is so small, the gap is caused when the area for the gap is too thin for the nozzle aperture to extrude plastic into.</li> </ul> <h3>Print instructions</h3><p>Category: 3D Printing Tests</p>
