Small Control Horn

Small Control Horn

These are two tiny control horns I designed specifically for mini-sized planes. My goal was to create something just as light as Flitetest's default balsa wood mini control horn, but with better "stick" to the foam control surface. To achieve this, I added a small horizontal tab to each horn, which provides more surface area for glue to adhere and helps keep the horn vertical. The hole for the control arm is positioned further forward than the FT balsa horn's mounting point, making it easier to get the hole aligned with the hinge line without the horn itself interfering with the bevel cut. I've created two versions: one with a standard mount that fits into the foam and another with a beveled mount. I find that the bevel helps mark the point of entry for the control horn when positioning, and it also provides an edge that cuts into the foam, keeping it tight in place. Each individual control horn weighs approximately 0.14 grams, which is significantly lighter than Flitetest's balsa wood horn at around 0.18 grams.
