This is a compact clamp that plugs into a weighted base as part of a versatile clamping system. To create this, you'll need: 1 x 1/4-20 2" carriage bolt 1 x 1/4" nut 5 x No. 0 (4 x 1/2) wood screws You can find the base at: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2759738 The clamp has interchangeable jaws to fit various objects. Currently, these include: - A flat jaw https://www.thingiverse.com/download:4562734 - A jaw with a small 2 x 4 mm clamping area (https://www.thingiverse.com/download:4568331), which comes in two pieces that you glue together. - A jaw to hold small cylindrical pieces horizontally (https://www.thingiverse.com/download:4568330) The clamp opens to approximately 28 mm, depending on the type of jaw used. A Fusion 360 file with the jaw template is included. To Assemble 1) Slide the round, flat piece on the "clamp knob" into the slot in the back of the "clamp body" so that the central holes align. Insert the carriage bolt through the holes on both pieces. The fit between the carriage bolt head and the inside of the knob should be snug, ensuring that the square section at the base of the bolt head is aligned with the square socket inside the knob before attempting to press it in. 2) Fit the "knob cap" into the knob so that the screw holes align. Secure the two pieces together using one No. 0 wood screw. 3) Place the 1/4" nut into the slot at the back of the "clamp slider" and slide it onto the bearing surface of the clamp body until it reaches the threads of the carriage bolt. Screw it in place. 4) Attach the "clamp base" to the clamp body by screwing four No. 0 wood screws into the plugs on the four corners. NOTE: The screw heads will tend to push the walls of the bottom plugs apart, resulting in a tight fit into the sockets of the weighted base. Avoid overtightening them. If the fit is too snug, file the outer edges of the sockets back slightly. Conversely, if the edges wear until the fit becomes too loose, you can simply tighten down the screws to restore the fit.
