Small Camera Stabilzer

This small Tiffen Merlin-style camera stabilizer features a body made from 8mm fiberglass epoxy tubing. It employs a cheap universal joint from an RC car and flanged f605zz bearings for the gimbal. Counterweights consist of 1/4 bolts and steel washers. Print parts in natural ABS at .2mm layer height with 20% infill, adjusting openscad files as needed. The baseplate is sandwiched by flanged F605ZZ bearings, with the universal joint held in place by an M4 nut. The HSP part number 106015 joint costs around $6 on eBay for a pair. Cut off the tip of the "dog bone" to slide it into the handle. Upper and lower fiberglass rods measure approximately 125mm and 160mm, respectively, customizable to suit your needs/camera. Purchase rods at Tap Plastics for about $4 each. Glue a nut to the bottom counterweight mount with Gorilla super glue and sandpaper. Acquire three 1/4-20 bolts, 1/2" to 3/4" long, depending on washers used. Research Merlin-style stabilizers online for guidance, such as wsclater's works; balancing can be tricky and takes time. This stabilizer is designed for small cameras only.
