Small Arcade Tactile Button Cap and Case
thingiverse
We required buttons that were compatible with a 12mm x 12mm x 8mm Tactile Button Switch, and we wanted them to look better than the standard caps they came with, making it easy to insert them into a control box. We preferred the arcade button style, but we didn't want them quite so large. Plus, we found that buttons that were too wide didn't work well with the button switch. We remixed a design we liked, making the button smaller and able to snap onto the button switch. The piece that holds the switch is attached to the encasement, and the encasement is threaded so it can be set into the box panel and tightened into place with the nut, just like a standard arcade button. Also included is the STL file for the box panel to insert the button. To make the button encasement printable without supports, we chamfered the lip that rests on top of the box underneath. We also added 4 small extensions so the encasement can be seated into the panel's slots. You can use the panel STL to blend into your box. The panel is 2mm thick. This actually inspired us to create individual box pieces, which we used to blend our box for this project. We're hoping to add that to Thingiverse soon! (We will replace this with a link when that's done)
