Small aquarium tank filter
thingiverse
I needed a small filter for my daughter's tiny Betta tank, but nothing seemed to fit right in there. The water would get stagnant-looking, and I couldn't find any solution that worked. So, I decided to build one myself using a small piezo air compressor. The result is great - the flow is perfect, and it doesn't seem to stress out the fish at all. The clear tube part came from Hobby Lobby, where I cut it down to the length of my tank before joining them with a printed coupler. I could have printed the tube itself, but I think it looks cooler in clear. If you're interested in making one, be sure to check out the "Medium Plastic Storage Tubes" they sell there. Designing the filter's printing support took some time and effort. This was a challenging project, especially since the part that creates bubbles needs a surface to print on. To overcome this issue, I added support and then carefully removed it all with a razor and drill bit.
