Slowcooker Lid Knob (spiralized)
thingiverse
The original knob was a solid piece of plastic that retained heat, making it necessary to use an oven mitt to remove the slow cooker lid. The new design required a balance between stability and heat dissipation. Two files are available: Slowcooker_knob_spiral - This is the basic knob design. Slowcooker_knob_spiral_MM - This file includes additional tree supports generated in MeshMixer, as the regular supports in Cura were difficult to remove. To ensure proper results, do not use slicer-generated supports for this model. This design utilizes a 6mm bolt, which is commonly used in slow cookers. However, you may need to install a metal nut inside the sphere to secure it properly. Printed with PETG, the knob does not appear to deform when handled and can be touched without an oven mitt. If you plan to print with other materials, research the concept of "glass transition" to determine the optimal filament choice for your needs.
