Slot Rail Articulating Light
cults3d
A DIY camera rig that repurposes a dollar store flashlight's functionality, inspired by MrMartiniMo's CR-10 Camera mount. This hack matches Articulating Camera Mount. Supplies: Dollar store / gas station / Walmart flashlight. (Your kitchen drawer might hold one too) Resistor: depends on power supply and needs Thin wire: for routing in the unused rail slot behind the PSU Assembly: Disassemble the flashlight, removing its head Solder wires to the head as shown below (fig1). The inner ring is cathode (+) and outer ring anode (-) Pass wires through the cap Insert bolt into the head; it should fit snugly to prevent spinning. Use a nut if needed Fit LEDs into the head Press the cap into place Assemble the rest of the arms as shown below (fig2) Slide the assembly onto the rail Wire as needed Important: no resistor in the flashlight's head, add one depending on your power supply. See resources below Fig 1 Fig 2 Resources: Ohms Law calculator for help calculating resistors: http://www.ohmslawcalculator.com/led-resistor-calculator Example: to run this off a 5v power supply at 20 milliamps, use a 160ohm resistor (assuming a 1.8v drop on the LED) Check your resistor's wattage rating
