Slot Cutting Router Template
thingiverse
This design replaces the plastic base of a router to act as a jig that cuts slots for shelving, eliminating the need to move fences or jigs. The guide follows in the previously cut slot, allowing you to make multiple cuts efficiently. I created this project specifically to build a shelf for storing parts storage cases, such as the 19-bin portable parts storage case from Harbor Freight (http://www.harborfreight.com/19-bin-portable-parts-storage-case-93928.html). The slots are cut in 3/4" particle board, while the slide-in shelves are made of 1/4" hardboard. As designed, this jig will cut slots spaced 2.85" on center. It is optimized for use with a 1/4" router bit, which works perfectly with 1/4" hardboard, given that it typically measures about 0.20".
