Update 03-03-15 Installed hotend and now printing! Here's a video of it printing:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVa2gHCmJDo Update, 02-15-15 Waiting on new hotend to arrive before I can test out my latest project. This is the Slot Bot! A large format CoreXY printer with 335mm X 335mm x 300mm build volume. Main frame made of 1.5" slotted angle in 2' lengths for a sturdy build. One goal was to make standardized frame from locally sourced materials. Home Depot, Lowes and Menards all carry 2' sections of slotted angle as well as longer ones. Stiff design only needs 3 X 5/16 or 8mm screws at each corner. Currently designed with 5/8" or 16mm rod for added rigidity. Found great deal on stainless steel rod and using Lm16uu bearings with no issues so far. Future upgrade planned to make 10-12 mm version of parts since 16 mm rod is overkill. The z-axis uses belt-driven design with two geared (27:1 ratio) nema17 motors, ditching screws altogether. Heated bed made from 1/8" thick aluminum plate and fiberglass heat tape as heating medium. Runs on 120VAC with solid state relay for power supply. Uses 400C-rated tape attached to plate with kapton tape, only drawing 2A of current.
