Our Slingshot 360 tablet stand / bracket is too-small for the new 8" tablet. The newer versions of this come with two mounting plates - but I didn't want to buy a new stand just for a larger base.

I designed a 2-piece assembly so you can replace the slider portion and make any-size or style of outside piece you want.

The sling-shot bracket comes apart with 4-screws and a bit of work. You will need some case-separation tools and a bit of patience - it fits very tightly and you will have to work your way around the perimeter. The sliders are a very tight fit and may require a bit of sanding to get them to slide nicely.

I used some M3 thread-forming plastic screws (I only had 4) but you could just as easily use superglue - this is a tight enough fit friction almost holds it in place.

There are two styles of holders - labeled top and bottom. The bottom can be printed twice if your tablet has power/volume on the side. In the case of our Amazon Fire 8.5 tablet the power, volume and USB are on the top - so I have a custom bracket that avoids pressing the power button and leaves the USB open.

If you want custom brackets you can import the STL file into your CAD of choice and sketch-out anything you want. Hole spacing is 22mm by 82mm, 3mm in diameter. They are offset 4mm from each side on the slider assembly.

If you make this, please post a make and let me know how it worked-out.

If you have questions ask in the comments!

Print Settings

Printer:

FLSUN i3 2017 Version

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

.2

Infill:

25%

Filament: PrintOxe PLA Black

Notes:

Slider can be printed without supports. There is a small dimple on the end of the spring holder pins that needs to be trimmed-off. That allows for the small bridge for the pins to print in mid-air.
The top-holder is flat, so print it with the opening facing up and no supports are needed.

The bottom can be printed the same-way - but depending on your printer you may have a small bit of clean-up to do. In my-case it was very little and a light sanding was all it too,.

Category: Tablet
