Slimspeed - 0.75 bhp Performance RC Car
thingiverse
I started working on this project several months ago and decided to share it with everyone. Overall, designing, building, and testing the RC car was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I loved it so much that I'm doing it again. The new version will be released in just a couple of months and boasts even better performance. This project can take some time, so be sure to dedicate a whole weekend to it. Advantages: - Excellent handling at low speeds (under 40kph/25mph) - Amazing straight-line speed - A very high power-to-weight ratio (around 1.1 hp/kg) - Possibly the most affordable way to reach 46 mph/74kph (this is the highest recorded speed) - Lots of fun to drive Most RC cars have gearing that limits their top speed. Slimspeed, on the other hand, has gearing for 180kph/111mph. This means your speed is only limited by your driving skills, air resistance, and how long the road ahead is. Disadvantages: - A large steering radius (designed with stability in mind) - Can be a bit tedious to build since there are no exact instructions (but it's not too bad) - No serious off-roading possible - Braking hard causes the vehicle to turn around and reverse while braking. This could be useful if you want the car to turn around and head back to you. Otherwise, it's not very useful. Youtube: - https://youtu.be/G08Cl8rStKo
