The Slim-Z-Coupling, a popular 3D printer Z-Coupling variation, offers several benefits including slim and light design without requiring screws. It boasts rigidity in radial direction while being flexible axially. Easy to construct with basic tools, it can also be paired with the Z-Support-Bracket for reduced motor shaft force. Additionally, the Slim-Z-Coupling reduces Z-Axis-Wobble, and an updated version is available as Slim-Z-Coupling2. To build this DIY Z-Coupling, gather a few tubes and tools including an 10mm/8mm aluminum tube, 8mm/6mm aluminum tube, 6mm/5mm brass tube, and a 2mm/1mm brass tube. Slots need to be sawed, a hole drilled at 2mm, and tubes inserted in specific ways to complete the assembly process. A tape is used to increase threaded rod diameter for insertion into an aluminum tube, while sandpaper helps adjust brass tube diameters. Overall, this design focuses on ease of DIY construction.
