The following instruction is intended exclusively for individuals with exceptional electrical skills. The user assumes all responsibility for any damage resulting from this action. At my laser cutter, I aimed to separate the control lines to the x- and y-control motors and the laser from the wiring harness without cluttering the cable drag chains or installing unsightly junction boxes. The outcome is sleek (for 20 mm aluminum profiles) junction boxes with 4-, 8-, and 16-pole connections. The screwable (M3x5mm) connectors consist of solder tags, which can be doubled per contact. Using an M3 tap, I cut the threads directly into the PLA material. If necessary, a strip of insulating tape can protect the mounting surface from short circuits. Generally, these slim junction boxes should only be used for lower voltages and currents.
