Slightly Taller Spool Holder

Even though many spool holders exist for your needs, this one solves a specific need that matters to me. My dry box project used hangers and rods to keep the spools supported. While this works, it has a few major issues. Sometimes the spools get jammed and changing them is simply frustrating. This model solves those problems nicely. Each spool is contained in its own roller, making changes as easy as picking one up and setting another down. It's also the right height for my needs. Did I mention that it's the right height? That was the only major problem with all other holders out there. A dry box needs the spools to be roughly in the middle of the container vertically to allow sufficient desiccant underneath and for the filament to feed effectively to the delivery tubes. As a bonus, this holder takes up very little additional horizontal space, allowing maximum spool capacity in your dry box area. Additionally, without hangers, a wider range of "air-tight" containers become viable options for my solution. To assemble these kits, you'll need 4 608ZZ bearings per unit. Fortunately, they're extremely affordable! Simply print off two of these kits or two plates and two axles with rod sets of your desired length, snap them together, and you're ready to go. The default kit is designed for standard Hatchbox spools, but I'll be including other axle and rod sets for various widths as needed or requested. I'm considering creating this project as an OpenSCAD parametric model – let me know your thoughts! Don't be confused by the axle and rod set; it looks like a single piece until you finish printing and separate it. I designed these parts to make efficient use of build plate space, printing them as concentric cylinders. Enjoy using this solution and provide feedback – thanks for your support! Printer Settings: Printer: Monoprice Maker Ultimate Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 30% Notes: Consider adding extra outer perimeters or sufficient infill to make the axles strong enough, as they only need to support 2 kg. Essential build plate support is also required. I rounded the edges of the frame posts to increase their strength and recommend printing them with solid infill for easy disassembly.
