Sliding Legolini Slingbow XL arms
thingiverse
This is not originally my idea. There is another thing available providing longer arms for the Legolini Slingbow version: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4500359 Unfortunately those arms are pretty big and do not fit onto my Ender 3 printing bed. After some wild Thera Silver double tube experiments with a friend of my I thought to myself to give the idea of longer arms another try. In theory this gives you two options to beef up the power of the Legolini. 1) Use longer rubber tubes than the average 8 cm Theratubes 2) Use the average 8 cm Theratubes with more pre-tention. I splitted the original Slingbow parts of the Legolini and added some square connectors. Then I used OpenSCAD to generate similar shaped arms in various length. The idea is that you choose an arm which is short enough to fit onto your print bed if turned diagonaly. There is both a slotted version and a non-slotted version for those who prefer maximum strength of their print. Since those long tubes put a lot more stress to the Legolini itself you can expect to wear off your bow string quickly fast as well as the rubber tubes will degrade pretty fast. I always print at least the triggerlever out something stronger than PLA. Either PET or ABS should do the job. Using PET for the arms might be a bit oversized but PLA+ with more infill would give me more trust into my extended arms. After printing out the arms two times simply glue them to the lower part which gets screwed to the Pistol grip. Use simply Epoxy, Gorilla glue or what you usually use to put printed parts together. As for tube length you have to experiment which combination of length and pretension match your needs. Oh yeah, and in case you ask yourself: The "delta" value in the filename simply means that I have added twice the value to the base length of the normal length (around 20 cm). So delta10 means a length around 220 mm for the arm itself plus the base which gets glued in to the arm and mounted to pistol grip itself. I would not go too nuts in terms of arm length since this increases the overall length of the Legolini and also increases the draw weight more than necessary. I guess 24 cm+ does not really make sense although I have included longer arms. Of course: Use at own risk ! P.S. Will post pictures as soon as my printer works again...
