Sliding door on carpet guide
thingiverse
I had a DIY challenge to install a sliding door on carpeted space. The original guides are screwed to the floor on both sides and between the doors to keep them aligned while sliding. In my opinion, having plastic guides visible in front isn't aesthetic, and they might scratch the door's surface. After some thought, I came up with an idea to cut a 4mm gap from the bottom of the door using a handheld router and create a small plastic guide through 3D printing. Then, I glued it to a Velcro piece. The Velcro attaches to the carpet, and the guide keeps the door in position. It has some play, but works well for us. This lightweight solution is easy to install and doesn't obstruct the space. I think others might be facing this issue, so I'm sharing my idea here. I've attached a SCAD file with two lines of code, making it simple to customize the guide according to your needs.
