Sliding Bolt

Sliding Bolt

I created this model whilst unable to get a couple of bolts due to lock down. Please see video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gpmw00a3bzm3g06/Sliding%20Bolt.mp4?dl=0 I needed a couple of sliding bolts to secure my loft door. Rather than printing the sliding handle in place on the printer I decided to create a back section that could hold the rear section in place. The front section was not a problem as this was surrounded by a hole in the base. The slider can either be slid into a catch or through a hole in the surrounding material. Support is required in the hole of the base section, the tolerances are such the support once removed will leave a clean hole and smooth running of the slider. As a result of making the sliding bolt modular I was able to create another handle that is smaller with a round top. In relation to the closed handle it is great to firmly lift the object it is attached to ie. my loft door. The two ridges on the slider was designed for forward and backward movement of the slider, to ensure it did not release itself from the base when screwed down.
