Slide Lock Actuator, Ford F-series, pre-1982

Until the middle of 1981 (the month depends on which plant assembled the vehicle), Ford used horizontal "slide locks" rather than the more familiar vertical pin-style. A black plastic actuator slides forward/backward in a trim ring in the side of the door panel. This component is a replacement for that actuator. The trim rings are specific (left or right handed) to the doors but this actuator is not. To operate smoothly this actuator must be made of a low-friction material. I recommend some form of nylon (I used fiber-filled nylon). The original part was black.
