Slide Camera/Digitizer Box
thingiverse
This thing was made using Tinkercad, accessible at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/hyGWL7Qy522. Designed this to digitize some slides from the mid-1960s that my grandma had stored away. It's a quick and dirty solution that requires cropping to fit right. Upon comparison of photo quality with some slide scanners/cameras for sale on Amazon, it turns out better even after post-processing those images. This design fits the cob light available at Harbor Freight, often free after purchasing another item. A sticker backing sheet from an Apple product sticker was folded over a couple times to diffuse the light. The camera's white balance was set accordingly, and I started snapping slides. Examples will be posted later. Additionally, the hole at the top allows the protection ring around the point-and-shoot camera to fit into it, ensuring proper alignment with the slide and preventing sliding. Rubber bands can be used to secure the camera in place. Check out my build post for sample photos.
