Slick 580 50cc Wheel Pant

Slick 580 50cc Wheel Pant

This remix of the wheel pant by Grafalex is a masterstroke, and he deserves all the credit for doing the hard work. I simply took his design and stretched it to fit the 3D Hobby Slick 580 50cc plane like a glove. Both PETG and PLA have been used to print this model, but I suspect PETG will perform better due to its greater flexibility. To make printing easier, I modified the design to produce one piece with support from the print bed only, sparing the interior of the pant. This change required about 20 minutes with a Dremel to open up the bottom. As winter settles in, further testing and updates will be necessary to evaluate their performance. However, after conducting an initial dozen landings with the PLA pants, one of them cracked due to a small area where there was fill material. To mitigate this issue, I plan to thicken the walls in Cura to 2mm, eliminating the need for fill altogether and likely extending its lifespan significantly.
