I'm extending my previous project on thingiverse http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:359754 with advanced capabilities for light painting in full color. To achieve this, I upgraded the design by attaching a 5mm RGB LED to the micro platform of my 3D delta using a custom attachment system. The RGB LED is now connected to pins 4, 5, and 6 on the Ramps board. Automating the camera start and stop feature was also a top priority. I attached the shutter release button to pin 11 on the Ramps board using an opto-isolator, eliminating the need for manual intervention during the four-minute photo shoot. This improvement allowed me to focus on capturing high-quality images while minimizing manual input. My daughter recently got her portrait taken through professional 3D scanning services, which provided a perfect model for experimenting with color light painting. Utilizing the automated camera feature, I created gcode files for multiple angles of the face model. The end result was a stunning rotating GIF made from ten distinct angles, showcasing the model's versatility. Furthermore, I aimed to achieve real-time lighting effects within the video itself, a project that requires additional complexity and innovation. I employed a plugin from Kdenlive, a free video editing software, to integrate this feature successfully.
