A replica of Sleeping Ariadne resides in the Vatican Museums within Vatican City. The original sculpture from the Hellenistic period's Pergamene school of the 2nd century BCE is highly acclaimed and one of Antiquity's most celebrated works. A reclining figure draped in a chiton lies half on her side, half seated, with legs extended and crossed at the calves, head resting on her left arm, and right arm thrown over her head.
