This is the most basic Tesla Coil I've ever built. It requires a mere 12v DC, 500mA to operate and produces around 1200 volts on the secondary coil :D You can even power it with a USB connection! The circuitry is straightforward. Just search for "Slayer Exciter Circuit" online and you'll find some functional schematics. I utilized only one transistor, one capacitor that stabilizes the power supply and one resistor to trigger the transistor. I simply attached the primary coil tube to the cap of the box. You'll also need to drill holes for the wires. That's it!
