These custom side rails were specifically designed for use with the Traxxas Slash 4x4 LCG chassis paired with J-concepts' 2238 overtray. Rock debris used to enter under the overtray and into the space above nerf bars, causing frustration, but these side rails provide a simple solution to this issue. The download includes two separate files, one for each left and right sides of the Traxxas Slash. Notably, the version intended for the right-hand side boasts an incorporated push button rocker switch that easily turns on or off the Electronic Speed Control (ESC) while keeping the overtray firmly in place. A particularly handy feature of this setup is the convenience of having a rocker switch. Building support structures, carefully clearing any debris from mating surfaces, and swapping out bolts are also important steps for optimal functionality. However, occasional jamming may occur during operation, causing disruption to racing progress. To resolve this, users can install a modified spring cut in half into the button pivot hole above where it engages with the ESC switch. This prevents unintentional pressing of the rocker switch while navigating high-speed environments. Filing down the pivot until achieving optimal angle adjustment and a minimal degree of give provides further improvements to reliability. Users may use pins, small nails or wires as a substitute for a standard pivot, ultimately optimizing button stability and smooth performance throughout challenging off-road races.
