This roller is specifically designed for use with 3D Systems ProJet series SLA build platforms. It also works well on any platform featuring the same hexagonal pattern of 1/4" holes that are spaced 1/16" apart. I usually put it to use after my platforms have cured when stuck supports get especially crunchy, making them easy to remove. You can also use it after a scrub in alcohol to prevent stickiness, but often the supports will be softer then.
