Skyzone Sky02 - better Faceplate / Fan Mod
thingiverse
After countless hours of tinkering, I've finally achieved my goal. The objective was to integrate a fan and an on/off switch into my Skyzone without modifying the goggles themselves or voiding the warranty. Every button remains usable (and actually functions better now) thanks to the "cap," which provides a tactile guide for the buttons' locations. To assemble it: First, print the three required parts as shown above. All of these can be printed without any support materials. 1. Cap: Insert a 5.5/2.1 jack into the left side and wire it through the mounting hole on the back. I used this jack: https://www.conrad.at/de/niedervolt-steckverbinder-buchse-einbau-vertikal-55-mm-21-mm-1-st-738190.html Route the wire through the tunnel and solder it to the switches (one for the fan, one for the goggles). I used these switches: https://www.conrad.at/de/kippschalter-250-vac-3-a-1-x-einein-goobay-knx-1-rastend-1-st-701343.html and this fan: https://www.conrad.at/de/axialluefter-12-vdc-594-mh-l-x-b-x-h-30-x-30-x-10-mm-sunon-ha30101v3-0000-a99-184263.html Connect the switch for the goggles to a 5.5/2.1 plug that will eventually connect to the goggles themselves: https://www.conrad.at/de/niedervolt-anschlusskabel-niedervolt-stecker-kabel-offenes-ende-55-mm-21-mm-voltcraft-2-m-1-st-749163.html Once everything is cabled and the fan is mounted, you can attach the RotorRiot Fanguard and fill the mounting hole with hot glue (optional). 2. Faceplate: This component is thin enough to bend easily, even without applying heat. Simply place it on your goggles, where the small clamps will hold it in position. Push the faceplate to the top and secure it with the "cap" using four small M3 screws. Countersunk flat heads work best for this purpose. Now that everything is secured, you're ready for the final steps: Get the foam that came with your Skyzone and attach it to the new faceplate. Your quad is now ready for flight.
