The AZ3 mount marketed by Skywatcher and Celestron is a budget-friendly solid telescope mount. The head is an alt/az smooth controlled head that functions flawlessly. However, it's not always the best choice and has weight limitations. This adapter enables you to replace the alt/az head with a large flat surface for attaching any 3/8 threaded head. The primary reason I created this adapter was to accommodate the Staradventurer wedge. This tripod is absolutely perfect for the Staradventurer.
