Skywalker X8 (Fuselage) - Reference Curves/Geomagic Design X Tutorial
grabcad
This tutorial will provide a brief introduction to working with 3D scanned files using the example of Skywalker X8 drone model. You'll learn how to use Geomagic Design X and SolidWorks software to convert an STL file into a usable format, and you'll get an opportunity to practice your skills by creating a complete model of Skywalker X8. The author received an order to convert a scanned model of FPV (UAV) Skywalker X8 and successfully finished the task, resulting in a SolidWorks model. However, due to privacy reasons, they can't share it publicly. Instead, you can access the STL file on DIYDRONES website. The tutorial includes files with extracted reference curves in longitudinal and transverse sections of the scanned model, saved in various formats for compatibility with different CAD systems. While these curves are not perfect, you can improve them if desired, leading to a more accurate Skywalker X8 model. For a visual guide on curve extraction, check out the video on the author's YouTube channel. Good luck!
