Skywalker Smart - Nose Ballast
thingiverse
Even with a powerful 3000 mah battery, GPS receiver, and FPV camera mounted as far forward as possible, I still couldn't achieve even a near-stable center of gravity on this aircraft. This is essentially just a makeshift holder that allows me to glue fishing weights into it, which then screws directly into the plywood above the FPV camera - placing the ballast as far forward as feasible. I've printed three different versions with varying weights installed: 70, 55, and 40 grams. Depending on how each version flies, I can experimentally adjust the center of gravity by swapping out these weights. Unfortunately, this plane is starting to get under my skin - lack of space is a major limiting factor for its overall performance.
