For Team Automata's (2114a) 2014-2015 VRC robot, The Flamingo, a passive cube intake employs an initial spike release mechanism where lowering a plate onto goal posts pushes tabs up off stops, enabling them to drop. Subsequently, pairs of chains retract the tabs to their starting positions upon plate release. In the second version, the plate lowers onto goal posts, pushing a stop to permit tab dropping; post-release, the stop returns tabs to their original spots by pushing them up against stops.
