The Skylark sounding rocket was a British sub orbital platform for high altitude experiments. First launched in 1955 the Skylark flew a total of 441 times with the final flight in 2005. This model is a 1/20 scale of the skylark sounding rocket. Over its lifetime the Skylark the flew with a number of different booster as well as different sized payloads. This model is of the Skylark, consisting of a Raven rocket motor, a large 5 m payload, a Goldfinch booster, as well as the earlier Cuckoo booster. An extensive and complete history of the skylark can be found in Robert H. Brand's incredible book "Britains First Space Rocket: The Story of the Skylark" A book that I used as a reference for this model which I can highly recommend to those who are interested (prior warning, its a big book!) For assembly, use 15 mm lengths of 1.75 mm filament alignment pins for attaching the nosecone to the payload and the two halves of the Raven together. Glue the fins in place on the Skylark and the Cuckoo. Glue the interstage to the top of each booster and the payload coupler. Finally the remaining parts a push fit so that they can be separated and swapped, or just glue them in place for a static model. The hole through the centre is sized for a 5 mm mounting rod for a stand. Finally the parts drawing shows each component, file names and the relative position for the model.
