Skydome HDRI - Storm Clouds

3docean

The Skydome HDRI-brand is a high-dynamic range image collection that captures only the sky portion of an outdoor setting. Typically, the selected qualities under this brand feature cloudy and detailed skies with natural exterior lighting. No artificial sources are present, and all spheres of natural lighting are captured. Storm clouds are captured in great detail for use in image-based lighting. Only the top half of the HDRI-sphere is shot, so if using VrayLight with Dome-setting enabled, leave "Spherical: full-dome" unchecked. The massive resolution of 12579×3032 allows the sky to be rendered directly from the viewport with considerable detail (tested up to 8000 pixel wide renders). 18 megapixel processed backplates are included for better compositing freedom. The backplates were taken with an 8mm Samyang fisheye lens and then processed to remove excessive curvature. 7-step 2-EV settings are used via the Magic Lantern HDR-Bracketing Feature. A DIY no-parallax rig is built on top of a basic tripod, and a Canon EOS 60D camera is used. The Samyang f3.5/8mm fisheye lens provides 180 degrees of horizontal field of view. HDR-images are used in various 3D-formats to produce physically accurate lighting. They are used to recreate the lighting conditions present in the scene, which was shot from a panorama. This is commonly used for architectural renders and other 3D-scenes where lifelike light conditions are desired. HDRI images can be used in 3DS Max and VRay for physically accurate lighting. More information on HDRI usage can be found at http://northlogicvfx.com/2013/10/30/about-hdr/. The provided backplates are based on images taken with the 8mm Samyang, which were then processed to remove excessive curvature. Visit my site at http://northlogicvfx.com for more information.
