The Skydome HDRI Collection: Capturing the Perfect Sky The Skydome HDRI brand is a collection of high-dynamic range images, showcasing only the sky portion of an outdoor setting. Typically, the selected qualities under this brand feature cloudy and detailed skies. The lighting conditions are natural exterior lighting, with no artificial sources, and capture all aspects of natural lighting. A Beautiful Starlight Sky This stunning starlight sky features a sun glowing from beneath the horizon. To utilize this HDRI for VrayLight with Dome setting enabled, simply uncheck the "Spherical: full-dome" option. Massive Resolution The massive resolution of 12272×3472 allows the sky to be rendered directly from the viewport with considerable detail (tested with up to 8000 pixel wide renders). Backplates Supplied are two JPEG versions of the panorama. One is as described above, while the other covers the entire 360/180 area. Package Includes The package includes OpenEXR and Radiance HDR-files, both supplied as Skydome-versions (only top half of the panorama) and full 360/180 panoramic versions. JPEG Backplates JPEG backplates are also provided in Skydome versions and full panoramic views. Both views are offered with no noise reduction applied, and processed backplates for minimal noise. The difference between JPEG backplates and HDR-backplates lies in their refinement, with the JPEG backplates containing more stars. Exposure Settings A 3-step 2-EV settings were used via the Magic Lantern HDR-Bracketing Feature. HDR Rig Details The DIY no-parallax rig was set up on top of a "basic" tripod. Camera Specifications The Canon EOS 60D camera captured these breathtaking images. Lens Details The Samyang f3.5/8mm fisheye lens, with its 180 degrees of horizontal field of view, played a crucial role in capturing the stunning sky. Usage and Applications These HDR-images are used in various 3D-formats to produce physically accurate lighting (to recreate the lighting conditions present in the scene which from the panorama was shot). They can be applied for various purposes. The most common usage is achieving lifelike light conditions for architectural renders, but also for your fantastic 3D-scenes where you want to breathe life into the images.
