Skydome HDRI - Northern Lights
3docean
Introduction The Skydome HDRI-brand is a collection of high-dynamic range images, showcasing only the sky-portion of an outdoor setting. Typically, the selected qualities under this brand are cloudy and detailed skies with natural exterior lighting conditions, excluding artificial sources, capturing all spheres of natural lighting. Description A breathtaking scene featuring northern lights with a sun glowing from beneath the horizon, captured in stunning detail. To ensure accurate rendering, only the top half of the HDRI-sphere is shot; if using VrayLight with Dome-setting enabled, make sure to leave "Spherical: full-dome" unchecked. Resolution The massive resolution of 12344×3246 allows for the sky to be rendered directly from the viewport with considerable detail, even at high resolutions (tested up to 8000 pixel wide renders). Backplates Supplied is the JPEG-version of the panorama, providing a seamless transition between the sky and the background. Package includes OpenEXR and Radiance HDR-files are both supplied as Skydome-versions (only top half of the panorama) and full 360/180 panoramic versions. Additionally, JPEG-backplates are provided in both Skydome versions and full panoramic views, with no noise reduction applied and processed backplates for minimal noise. Exposure A 3-step 2-EV settings was used via the Magic Lantern HDR-Bracketing Feature to capture the perfect exposure. HDR-rig A DIY no-parallax rig was mounted on top of a "basic" tripod to ensure stable and precise camera movements. Camera A Canon EOS 60D was used to capture the stunning image, utilizing its advanced features and capabilities. Lens A Samyang f3.5/8mm fisheye lens with 180 degrees of horizontal field of view was employed to capture the breathtaking scene in all its glory. Usage These HDR-images are utilized in a variety of 3D-formats to produce physically accurate lighting, recreating the lighting conditions present in the scene which was shot from the panorama. The most common use case is to achieve lifelike light conditions for architectural renders, but they can also be used to breathe life into your fantastic 3D-scenes, taking them from ordinary to hyperreal. It's suggested to use the HDR-files to generate lighting and reflection, while using the JPEG-backplates for compositing.
